ffdshow is a DirectX 's Direct Show decoding filter for decompressing DIVX movies. It uses libavcodec from ffmpeg project for video decompression, postprocessing code from mplayer to enhance visual quality of low bitrate movies, and is based on original DirectShow filter from XviD, which is GPL'ed educational implementation of MPEG4 encoder.

GeexBox @

Some bugs reports and tests I just tested the 0.96 version and it don't work better than 0.95 Hardware: laptop amilo (w/ Radeon IGP 320M) :

  • keyboard is not working (usb may conflict?)
  • video display is all green, with some artefacts (anyway geexbox bootscreen is ok)

but with 0.94's video is fine

0.95 works ok on viavo sony laptop

I am preparing an debian package of geexbox Interessed ? Do you accept patches ? Come back to pretty soon

List of hardware compatible with Geexbox

Debian Port : (add RzR sources list )
apt-get update ; apt-get install geexbox-generator
# Usage: /usr/local/bin/ -o /tmp/ /local/video/linux-gpl.avi /local/video/opensource.ogg
# -o path = .iso's place
4916 /tmp//geexbox-0.96-custom.iso # empty iso
